Vaginal Dryness

Vaginal dryness is a painful syndrome that occurs with loss of moisture in the vaginal tract, which is usually seen in cases where estrogen levels decrease or with menopause in older ages. This situation also causes sexual intercourse to be painful and difficult.

Women may also experience sensitivity, pain, and pressure in the vaginal area in their daily lives. For this reason, the PRP and laser treatments are aimed to treat this condition.

What Causes Vaginal Dryness

The level of estrogen hormone in women decreases during menopause, pregnancy, and breastfeeding. This drop in the level of the hormone estrogen is the main cause of vaginal dryness. In addition, some antidepressants and birth control pills are also observed as a cause for this condition. Genital disorders can also be another cause of this syndrome. If you have recurrent infections in your vagina, if your vaginal flora is thrown off balance, or if you suffer from Sjögren’s syndrome, you may experience vaginal dryness.

Treatment Methods For Vaginal Dryness

Vaginal dryness is a condition that can be treated with different methods. After determining the reasons that cause this discomfort, you can regain your health in a very short time with the most appropriate treatment method for your needs.

Laser Treatment

If you are not pregnant, it is possible to perform vaginal rejuvenation (skin rejuvenation) to the vaginal opening and canal with a laser. With the MonaLisa Touch devices we use in our clinic, we can complete this procedure in a very short time so that you don’t feel any pain and return to your daily life immediately. In laser treatment, we can usually finalize your vaginal dryness in three sessions, once a month.

PRP Treatment

PRP applied along the vaginal opening and canal allows the vagina to regenerate, increase blood circulation and thus restore moisture balance . In our clinic, laser and PRP applications are usually combined to reinforce the effect of the treatment. Like laser treatment, PRP applications produce very satisfactory results when three sessions are performed once a month.

Medical Treatment

Especially in our menopausal patients, bio-equivalent hormone replacement therapies and some estrogen creams can be applied locally into the vagina in dryness due to estrogen deficiency. However, in the presence of infection, it is important to treat the infection first. Good to keep in mind that, lubricant gels have no therapeutic properties; they only provide temporary relief during intercourse.
